Before You Apply
We want you to know what you are signing up for. This is an amazing job, but it is not for everyone. Here is the honest version of what it is like to work at Velocity Island Park.
This is an outdoor job. You will be in the sun, on your feet, and working through the Woodland, CA summer. Temperatures regularly climb above 100 degrees. Sunscreen and hydration are not optional. They are part of your daily routine, just like clocking in.
Weekends and holidays are our busiest days. That means most team members work Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. If you need every weekend off, this probably is not the right fit. We do our best to rotate schedules fairly, but peak days are all hands on deck.
The season runs roughly May through September. Most positions are seasonal. Some roles start a few weeks earlier for training and setup. If you are looking for year-round work, we are upfront that this is a summer gig for most of the team.
Every role here is customer-facing. Whether you are at the front desk, on the cable dock, running food at Costa Fuego, or maintaining the grounds, you will interact with guests constantly. A positive attitude and the ability to stay friendly under pressure are essential.
It can get hectic. Peak summer days mean hundreds of families, back-to-back aqua park sessions, a full restaurant, and birthday parties happening simultaneously. You need to stay calm and keep smiling when things get busy. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, you will love it here.
Now for the good part. You work lakeside on a 15-acre property, not behind a desk in a fluorescent-lit office. You get free park access on your days off. The team is tight-knit and the environment is energetic. Many of our staff come back year after year because there is nothing else like it. You will finish the summer with great stories, real friendships, and a tan.
No experience required for most roles. We provide training for everything, including lifeguard certification, food handler cards, and equipment training. What we cannot train is a good attitude and a willingness to work hard. Bring those, and we will teach you the rest.
If all of that sounds good to you, fill out the application below. We are excited to hear from you.
